Personal Statement
I have been involved with IT for around 19 years and was writing programs in Assembly Language by the age of 14. I was one of the first people ever to write programs that gave people the chance to cheat in computer games. Since being a very young child have been very interested in exactly what „Makes things work“.
In IT this natural inquisitiveness has served me very well. First I wanted to know how programs worked so I learned to write them. After this I wanted to know how computers worked so I learned about electronics. Whatever problem I faced or did not fully understand I would learn about it and then find a way to overcome it. This has over time lead to my career in computers.
I have recently been assisting organizations to make their transition from NT/2000 to XP and 2003 server as an MSI Packager. I find computers both fascinating and challenging as they draw upon all the skills I have learned in the past and, as you probably know, in this field you never stop learning.
In 2003 I was working for Unilever IT, I started for the company as a first line Troubleshooter but was soon moved to a second line support department as we were in the process of migrating over 55,000 users from NT 4.0 to XP. In this department my main duties were to troubleshoot and distribute applications … in fact I wrote a new software distribution program for them which they still use today to distribute software across Europe. This job often involved repackaging applications which we found to be faulty.
Since relocating to
I have experience of SMS 2003
and Wise Packaging Studio, along with various packaging and troubleshooting
tools (Orca, Regmon, Filemon, VMware, Virtual PC, VMware etc). I am also an accomplished beta tester and have been involved in the
testing of the following products: Microsoft Winframe (an early version of Terminal Server and Citrix Metaframe),
Windows NT, 98, XP & Vista (Longhorn), Redhat 7,8
& 9, Fedora Core 1, 2, 3 & 4. I can program in 6502 Assembly, C, C++,
Pascal, VB,
I also spent 2 years in
My IT knowledge combined with my abilities gained outside of the world of IT makes me the perfect candidate for any company. I have never experienced any problem that was too large to overcome with a little persistence and knowledge. I look forwards to my next position where I can gain new experiences and more knowledge.
