Elder Russell M. Nelson of the Quorum of the Twelve made several stops during a tour of Southeast Asia, February 20–28. They included meetings with members and missionaries. After his tour, Elder Nelson said that he was impressed with the members he had visited. He said he was impressed with "the devotion they have to the Church even under strenuous circumstances."
The most extensive collection of writings about the Book of Mormon published between 1829 and 1844 has been made available as an online database. The collection includes nearly 600 publications, with close to 1 million words of text. It is intended to comprise everything published during Joseph Smith's lifetime relating to the Book of Mormon.
More than 700 Spanish-speaking members in the San Jose, California, area gathered to hear Elder Richard G. Scott of the Quorum of the Twelve speak in their native tongue during a question and answer fireside held on Friday, February 19.
While dozens, and then hundreds, of young single adults gathered excitedly in the chapel of the Brampton Ontario Stake Center for a Friday evening fireside with Elder M. Russell Ballard of the Quorum of the Twelve and Elder L. Whitney Clayton of the Presidency of the Seventy on March 5, a smaller, more senior group of members assembled at the other end of the building.
The change in direction of the Young Women program under Ardeth Greene Kapp's administration in the early 1980s came from a simple question posed by one of her counselors. "What do we want to happen?" asked Maren Mourtison. That got Kapp thinking. The result was a program based on the concepts of "Who am I, what am I to do, and how do I do it?" Kapp said.
