Joseph Smith, Mormon Prophet - LDS Church - Mormons
http://JosephSmithMormon.com has articles and details about the life of the prophet Joseph Smith. This is a video I created from clips from a few movies--The Restoration, Praise to the Main, Emma Smith: My Story--as part of my testimony of Joseph Smith, the Mormon prophet. Please leave a comment about "Joseph Smith, Mormon Prophet"! Mormons revere Joseph Smith as the prophet who was called of God to restore the Church of Jesus Christ in its fullness to the earth, today known as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church or "Mormons"). On a spring day in 1820, 14-year-old Joseph Smith sought solitude in a grove of trees and prayed to know which church was true. God the Father and Jesus Christ, "two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description," appeared and spoke with Joseph. Wondering which of the many churches to join, Joseph Smith had followed the counsel in the Bible's book of James: "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God." The Lord told Joseph Smith "that all the religious denominations were believing in incorrect doctrines" and that he was to await further instructions from on high. "In a state of calmness and peace indescribable," Joseph Smith left that sacred grove knowing the reality of our Father in Heaven and His resurrected Son, Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith's first vision stands today as the greatest event in world history since the birth, ministry, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. After centuries of darkness, the Lord opened the heavens to reveal His word and restore His Church through His chosen prophet Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith saw God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, not once, but innumerable times throughout his life. Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon, organized the true Church of Jesus Christ upon the earth once more and restored the plain and precious truths which were lost due to the apostasy of men. He lived great and he died great in the eyes of God! Mormon Founder: Joseph Smith Jr. - 1 of 5 - Mormonism
http://JosephSmithMormon.com has articles and details about the life of the prophet Joseph Smith. This is the first of five chapters of flm about the Prophet Joseph Smith Jr.. It opens with an actual recording of the testimony of Wilford Woodruff, a latter-day Prophet who had been well acquainted with Joseph Smith Jr. before his martyrdom. Following is a song witten by John Taylor called "O, Give Me Back My Prophet Dear" depicting various scenes from the life of this great man. We revere him as the prophet of this dispensation. Like Moses, Noah and Abraham of old. We believe that Joseph Smith Jr. was called as a latter-day prophet to restore the Church of Jesus Christ in its fullness to the earth. Truly, he was a Prophet and I add my testimony to the millions who have humbled themselves and confirmed from God the truth of the Restoration. Joseph Smith Jr. was a Prophet of God, an instrument in the hands of our Great Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to lay the foundation of this work and to help bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man through his teachings, revelations, the Book of Mormon and the Priesthood restored for our benefit in our time. Jesus is the Christ, and Joseph was His Prophet. This film was inspired by the album entitled "Joseph Smith - The Prophet" by Rob Gardner. Mormon Founder: Joseph Smith Jr. - 2 of 5 - Mormonism
http://JosephSmithMormon.com has articles and details about the life of the prophet Joseph Smith. This is the second of five chapters of flm about the Prophet Joseph Smith Jr. It begins with Joseph Smith's search, as a young boy, for the truth about religion. Determining that God was the only one who could give answers pertaining to His Kingdom of Earth, Joseph Smith Jr. went into the woods and prayed to know which Church he should join. What followed was a literal opening of the Heavens as God the Father and Jesus Christ appeared to the boy Joseph Smith Jr. Neal A. Maxwell, an apostle in our day stated, "Our Church History sites are small and simple, not unlike the manger." God works through humble and simple servants and from that moment on (a moment which has been known as the "First Vision") Joseph Smith was led by God and soon called by God as a Prophet to restore the true Church of Jesus Christ upon the earth for, as Jesus Christ himself stated to Joseph Smith in answer to his prayer, all other professors of Christianity had fallen into a state of Apostasy. We revere him as the prophet of this dispensation. Like, Moses, Noah and Abraham of old. We believe that Joseph Smith was called as a latter-day prophet to restore the Church of Jesus Christ to the earth in its fullness. Mormon Founder: Joseph Smith Jr. - 4 of 5 - Mormonism
http://JosephSmithMormon.com has articles and details about the life of the prophet Joseph Smith. "To me it is very strange indeed that there should be so much extreme ill feeling manifested by the world against Joseph Smith. He wronged no man. I am a witness of that, for I know his life. I have seen him in the flesh, and I have read of his sayings. I have read the revelations that the Lord gave to him. I am familiar with his work, and I know that he never wronged a living soul. He did not injure his fellowmen, but he did much to exalt them." -Joseph F. Smith (Proceedings at the Dedication of the Joseph Smith Memorial Monument: At Sharon, Windsor, County, Vermont, December 23rd, 1905, 41) This is the fourth of five chapters of flm about the Prophet Joseph Smith Jr. Within this chapter are scenes from his life begining with his own account of persecutions, the suffering of his family, the Kirtland Temple, The Missouri Period with Governor Boggs signing the infamous Extermination order against the "Mormon" relgion. And Joseph Smith's subsequent and illegal imprisonment in Liberty Jail--from whence the Prophet pleaded "O, God, where art thou?" And the Lord, answering his prayer said "My son, peace be unto thy soul, thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment and then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high, thou shalt triumph over all thy foes." The film then leads from Joseph Smith Jr. and fellow prisoners escape from prison into Commerce, where the city of Nauvoo would be born under the direction and inspiration of the Lord through his latter-day Prophet. We revere him as the prophet of this dispensation. Like, Moses, Noah and Abraham of old. We believe that Joseph Smith Jr. was called as a latter-day prophet to restore the Church of Jesus Christ, in its fullness, again to the earth. Mormon Founder: Joseph Smith Jr. - 5 of 5 - Mormonism
http://JosephSmithMormon.com has articles and details about the life of the prophet Joseph Smith. "I testify that I was acquainted with Joseph Smith for years. I have traveled with him; I have been with him; I have been with him in private and in public; I have associated with him in councils of all kinds; I have listened hundreds of times to his public teachings, and his advice to his friends and associates of a more private nature. I have been at his house and see his deportment in his family. I have seen him arraigned before the tribunals of his country, and have seen him honorably acquitted, and delivered from the pernicious breath of slander, and the machinations and falsehoods of wicked and corrupt men. I was with him living, and with him when he died, when he was murdered in Carthage jail by a ruthless mob...with their faces painted...I have seen him then, under these various circumstances, and I testify before God, angels, and man--that his doctrines were good, scriptural, and wholesome--that his precepts were such as became a man of God--that his privaet and public character was unimmpeachable--and that he lived and died as a man of God and a gentleman. This is my testimony." (Mark H. Taylor, ed. Witness to the Martyrdom: John Taylor's Personal Account of the Last Days of the Prophet Joseph Smith , 1999, 155-56). -John Taylor This is the final of five chapters of flm about the Prophet Joseph Smith Jr. This segment picks up from the fourth chapter from Joseph Smith's escape from Liberty Jail to the founding of Nauvoo the Beautiful where Joseph Smith issued his last charge to the apostles and subsequently met his fate in June of 1844 as a martyr in Carthage Jail. The film concludes with the time honored song "Hail to the Prophet" depicting various scenes from his short but remarkable life. Thank you for watching this film, I hope that you have enjoyed it and that it spurs you on to a greater relationship with God and Heavenly Father, whose work this truly is. We revere him as the prophet of this dispensation. Like, Moses, Noah and Abraham of old.
